There is life
We wandered around the property, for the first time in a long time, inspecting trees, marvelling at the signs of life in so much that had seemed dead or dormant. Life is there, isn't it, whether we realise it or not. The will of God flourishing, in silence and subtlety, only familiar to us when we unite out entire being with that silence in prayer.
I always think of Elijah in these moments, and how God wasn't to be found in the fire, or the earthquake, but in the gentle breeze at the mouth of the cave. If I can remember that, truly understand and realise that one thing, I would be a changed man. In this, to ponder silently in our heart, as Our Lady did, is the heart of Carmel.
Lead me there, Lord. Now. Forever.
