Routine Joys
Rereading Daily Habits by Mason Curry, a fascinating examination of how many great writers, artists, philosophers and seekers of all sorts structured their days. It's an addictive read, particularly in the incredibly varied means by which genius operates, functions and flourishes (from a quantitative perspective at least), but I'm always amazed by the peculiar hours they keep and the endless flow of coffee, cigarettes and other stimulants required to be as prolific as some where. To burn so bright, but so fast is no shock when you consider how they live and work.
Perhaps our vocations, bound to the church domestic save us from more we could ever imagine.
