There is, it seems, hope for the political process and potential to render wonderful outcomes that we never saw coming. I understood the political capacity for unprecedented and unexpected ruination at the hands of despots with little regard for personal autonomy and agency.

But to see an impressive man of faith elevated to the position of premier, in a state hell bent on seemingly enshrining every abuse of life imaginable, is a wonderful surprise for me.

I put no faith in princes, to be clear, but am still, quietly pleased by what I see, here and now.
