If We Only Could
Contraction and expansion should not be equally appealing options in any given situation. Does the given task, project or toolkit benefit from a sense of abundance, or the deft application of creative restrictions and aesthetic restraint? The notion of a ‘custody of the eyes’ arises, and one must admit that had it been exercised, the palette likely wouldn’t have appeared as rich as this, but again, when one collects colours, tools or sounds as a delightful diversion from the vagaries of life, it comes at a cost. Simplicity is lost, or abandoned more likely, although it’s rare that we wouldn’t take it back if we only could.
